The studio is below the Monastery Chapel of St. Seraphim, converted from a former railway station booking office, by the Brotherhood of St. Seraphim in 1967. There is a small studio shop next to the Chapel.
Father David and Leon came to Walsingham in 1966, and Leon was given a blessing as an apprrentice to Father David in the work of iconography. The icoonostasis in St. Seraphim's Chapel is their earliest work.
Commissions range from large works for Churches to small icons for personal devotion.
A large Mother of God of Walsingham hangs in the Roman Catholic Shrine in Walsingham, painted by Father David and Leon. Another example of their work is a large work over the door of St. John the Divine Church in Kennington, London. The work was commemorated and blessed shortly before Father David died in 1993. The central panel shows the Ressurection.
On All Saint's Day 1998 the icon of St. Leonard and St. Laura was blessed, which hangs in St. Leonard's Church, Streatham, London, in memory of Miss Laura Wilcox.
Restoration work is also carried out, both in the studio and on site. Leon has worked with a team of Church restorers led by the late Miss Anna Hulbert. Among the churches Leon has worked in is St. Thomas' church in Salisbury.
A large icon of the Nativity, in the Church of the Holy Transfiguration, Great Walsingham, is one of the most recent works on such a large scale.
Following the traditional methods for iconography, the work is carried out to definite methods and criteria following a tradition used by the Ancient Egyptians. The Heavenly dimension is expressed in it's form; a "Window into Heaven".
